Flamengo won the Intercontinental Basketball Cup twice

After Flamengo won the Intercontinental Basketball Cup twice,

a tournament that is equivalent to the Club World Cup, the coach of Rubro-Negro and the Brazilian team,

Gustavo de Conti, celebrated and vented about some criticism received for recent defeats. Olivinha, in turn,

was all joy after being the scorer in the final duel, against San Pablo Burgos (Spain), with 17 points.

The score of 75 to 62 over the Spanish team this Sunday afternoon, in the Hassan Moustafa gym, in Cairo, guaranteed another cup of the competition eight years later. In 2014, the conquest was in Rio. At the time, Flamengo also had Olivinha and also had Vitor Benite, now in the Spanish team. The Mexican Martínez, from Flamengo, was the MVP of 2022.

- It was a game, in a way, calm. We managed to do everything [coach] Gustavo asked for from the beginning of the game. In the first quarter,

we opened a good gap that we managed to manage until the end. The work in both games was excellent - said Olivinha to FlaTV, remembering the victory over Lakeland Magic, a subsidiary of Orlando Magic in the NBA's G-League, in the semifinals.

- We didn't suffer in both games and got a super important title for us. The red-black nation,

I believe, was calm at home, watching the game, sending those positive messages to us. Nation, thank you very much, we are together, the world is red and black again - concluded the idol.

Gustavo de Conti, aka Gustavinho, stated that the strategy for the year was all set up to arrive in the best conditions at the Intercontinental,

even if this could cause setbacks along the way. Flamengo lost two games in the NBB (in 19) and was defeated in the semifinal of the Super 8 Cup by Minas.

- Nothing is by chance. Today was the first time we played with a full team. We were very focused, very well prepared. Sometimes, some criticism that we receive in our season,

from Carioca, Super 8, NBB, some defeats that are unexpected even for us,

make us grow, but we cannot give in to any kind of pressure. It has to go on, because we know we were on the right path for this competition - argued the Fla commander in an interview with FlaTV.

It was the most important competition. It may be that we change something now, when we return to the NBB, but here, for this competition, the most important thing was for us to play like we were playing in Brazil.

Everything went well, thanks to God and thanks to the players, mainly, who executed everything very well.

Now, it's time to celebrate enough,” he concluded.
